Grenade Launcher Hoax stirs Controversy

This video was shot by a Pheonix man named Micheal T. Hurley in where he had his 16 year old nephew dressed as a terrorist and tout around a faux Rocket Propelled Grande launcher in the middle of neighborhood while he had the camera rolling. The young boy in the video actually walked around the city pointing the RPG at cars, and people for over 15 minutes with no immediate response from authorities after several concerned calls to 911 from witnesses. Hurley stated that the entire video was done in order test police response time to an emergency situation.

Personally I agree with the ends to test your theory but I feel that this stunt was dangerous and over the top. This young man could have actually been shot on sight by authorities if they felt he was a legitimate threat, or a misguided vigilante might have taken matter into their own hands. Although I feel that emergency response times are grossly unacceptable, I feel that stunts like this only add to the problem and not the solution. refer to the story of the boy who cried wolf…after while no one cared when there was a real emergency. A Perfect example is my home city of Detroit where police no longer show up to calls that a re not life threatening emergency i.e. the reports of guns, gunshots, or gunfire mainly.
This is the reason we cannot waste time and resources on hoax’s and pranks like this video. I agree that things need to change as far response time but this is not he way to go. you can watch the short clip and judge for yourself. Below is a link to an article that describes the entire events of in full detail.

“Police Arrest a 6-year old Girl”

This was an email I received from Change.Org in regards to the arresting of a 6-Year old who had a temper tantrum in class. This story is Truly unreal and you have got to read this email. This story is truly unreal and to be honest I really don’t have to many words for this nonsense. What kind of world do we live in where a baby can get arrested for simply acting out as a child would do. Please read the story and if you are sympathetic sign then feel free to visit change.org and sign the petition.

“Darrion –

Salecia Johnson is six years old. On April 13, her teachers say she had a temper tantrum in class — but instead of putting her in time-out, the school called the police.

Salecia was handcuffed, charged with battery, and kept in police custody for an hour before her parents found out what was going on. Though all charges have been dropped, Salecia — a 6-year-old —  now has an arrest record.

Salecia’s mom, Constance, says that “Salecia has been traumatized by this experience. She’s afraid to return to school and recently woke up in the middle of the night saying ‘they are coming to get me.‘” Constance wants to make sure that this incident won’t affect Salecia’s future, and she wants answers about why police officers were involved in the first place.

So Constance started a petition on Change.org demanding that Salecia’s arrest be removed from her record and that Creekside Elementary pledge to stop involving police in school discipline.

Constance believes that what happened to Salecia is part of a larger problem. Schools across America are adopting “zero-tolerance” policies that are making police involvement in school disciplinary matters more and more common, according to the Advancement Project, a group working with Constance’s family.

If thousands of people sign Constance’s petition, the police and the officials at Creekside Elementary will see that they can’t arrest and handcuff a six-year-old girl without facing public consequences. Schools around the country will take notice — and Constance hopes there won’t be another child that faces what Salecia did.

Thanks for being a change-maker,

“Black Cop shot 28 times…by other Cops?”

So I read an article from the Huffington post in regards to the case of Howard Morgan, a black police officer(Detective) who was shot 28 times after being pulled over by four white officers in Burlington Illinois outside of Chicago.  Morgan was driving the wrong way down a one way street while working off duty as a detective for a  local railroad when he was pulled over by four white in which a reported altercation ensued where Morgan allegedly opened fired his weapon wen officers tried to arrest him which resulted in the four officers shooting him 28 times. Morgan strangely survived the hail of gun fire, BUT he was brought on several different charges including attempted murder of the four white officer that arrested him. Morgan went to trial and was found not guilty on some of the lesser charges against him, yet he is still up for trial on the charges of attempted murder. There is also clear instances of blatant evidence tampering on the part of the Chicago Police department which is unfortunate because the evidence could have possibly shed more light on to hat really happened and maybe prove Morgan’s innocence. Morgan goes to trial later this year and could face up to 80 years in prison if found guilty. This case blew me away because this is a case of of Cop on Cop violence that to me is another clear case of racial prejudice  and assault.  It’s hard to really put this case into words because it’s just way to many variables, but one questions stands out to me…how do you shot a cop 28 times and then bring him up on attempted murder charges??? It’s hard to understand this world sometimes and this country we call America but WOOOOOOOW COME ON DUDE!!! Below is a link to the article written in the Huffington post providing more details about the case. And sign the petition on change.org to drop the charges on Howard Morgan.

“Death due to neglect…American Health care”

so I came across a blog post about a woman named Anna Brown who died Monday March 26th in Missouri jail cell after St.Mary’s Hospital in Richmond heights Missouri refused her medical treatment after she came into the hospital complaining about excruciating ankle pain. It turns out that a sprained ankle Brown suffered weeks prior had actually caused blot clots in here legs which traveled through her body and eventually into her heart. Brown was arrested at St. Mary’s hospital after she refused to leave the hospital until someone gave her medical attention because she was ion so much pain that she could not stand and had forced her to be bound to a wheelchair. Police showed up at St. Mary’s hospital and arrested Brown on site and booked her on trespassing charges and drug brown from the squad car to her jail cell where she cried in pain as she died.  Now to me this is beyond black vs white, this issue is about a color that is much more powerful…green. Brown was technically homeless as she was going through some life issues, and she was in a court battle to regain custody of her children, but as her records sated she was not a drug addict, she was simply stuck in a very tough financial and metal state. brown however was a medicare recipient but as we know in America that is simply not enough if you want a hospital to save your life. Once again America shows it’s true colors and reminds us that if you can’t afford health care…you’re probably going to die. This is a sad fact of living in this country and it is one that must change. Below is an article from a St. Louis newspaper fulling detailing the events of the case and the life history of Anna Brown so that you can get a complete image of the story and formulate your own opinion.
